Sunday School Teachers

Meet Our Adult Teachers...

Heaven Bound Class

Teacher: Rev. Jerry Jeffers

I joined Parkway in July 1976. I met my wife there in 1979 and we were married at Parkway in 1983.  I have served as a Sunday School teacher since 1980, as a Lay Preacher since 1983, and as a Deacon since 1997.  The Heaven Bound Class is a close knit group of couples in their 30's, 40's and 50"s.  In teaching, I stress an emphasis on Etymology (the study of the origin and meaning of words).  Just one word in the Scripture can have a powerful  life changing meaning. "For by grace are ye saved..." (Grace-acceptable, favor, benefit, gift).

Crusaders Class

Teacher: Greg Taylor

Welcome to Parkway Baptist Temple and the Crusaders class. I have had the wonderful privilege in teaching this exciting group of people for many years. This adult class of men and women (usually 40 yrs. and up), are truly a blessing. If you are looking for a class of mixed aged adults, that has a good mixture of singing, testimonies, prayer requests, and where the Word of God is taught in a way that will inspire and encourage your heart, then on behalf of our class, I would like to invite you to come and join us in the Crusaders Class. We are located in the choir room.

The Fellowship Class

Teacher: Lonnie Satterfield

After being raised in church and thinking for years that I was saved, I sincerely accepted Christ on November 28,1968 at the age of twenty-one. The Lord has created in my heart the desire to understand what the Bible really teaches. My intentions for the Fellowship class is to enable each student to be ready to answer others Biblically concerning Biblical subjects. (Colossians 4:5-6)

Joy Makers Class

Teacher: Sam Meek

The Joy Makers class is a fellowship of mixed adult ages. Being a teacher of the Word of God for over well over 50 years, it has always been my desire to honor the Lord and to teach all of the Word of God. I believe that all of the Word is necessary so that believers in Christ may grow in the faith and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Covenant Keepers

Teacher: Michael Lea

I have been a part of the Parkway family for 25 years.  The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful wife, Linnet, and two daughters—Madi and Jess.  Through the years, I have had the opportunity to teach in many capacities at Parkway.  My current class is the Covenant Keepers Sunday School Class—a mixed adult class primarily made up of young families.  We are a loving and close group that enjoys studying the Word and the fellowship of friends.  My teaching style centers around the need to equip us with an understanding of God’s Word and provide tools that help us with our walk with Christ.  Linnet and I invite you to be a part of our class.  We look forward to meeting you.

Highways and Hedges Class

Teacher: Danny Dietz

I was born August 13, 1959 to Reverend Lamar and Sarah Dietz. I have known nothing but the ministry of the church for the greatest part of my life, and I can honestly say that God is so good. I was baptized at the age of nine years old. However, all that took place was—I got wet! It would be at the age of seventeen, after strong conviction of the Holy Spirit that the Lord saved my Hell Bound soul. I answered my call to preach shortly after and the Lord began working in my life. He allowed me to be a Youth Pastor and even the Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in McDonald, TN at the age of 21. I have had much heartbreak since, and I assure you I know the definition of a broken heart. My dad has always said, "God can't really use a man until he lays broken before Him!” The regret for me was the course of brokenness; thankfully, God doesn't throw the clay away.

The Highways and Hedges Class started on August 31, 2008. Troy Norris and Dan Sims have been our assistants from the very beginning. We had a very fast start, but it was only for one reason—broken people. Our class offered a shelter in the time of their storm. The class is very diverse in age and there are no adult age limits. We enjoy class outings, attending camp meetings, a participant in Parkway’s Bread of Life Ministry, and we enjoy being a mission minded class. If you are looking for a Sunday School Class, I hope you give us a try each Sunday, located in Boatner Hall.

Esther Class (A Ladies Class)

Teacher: Billie Nash

The Lord has allowed me to stand before the Esther class each Sunday and minister to them as well as them to me. My goal in our class is to teach the Word of God in such a way to our ladies that is both practical, theological, and relevant. My mission is to encourage each woman to become a prayer warrior which is  very effective in the life of our church (Cf. James 5:16). I know that you will receive a blessing by fellowshipping with the ladies of the Esther Class. We are located in the first hall of the educational section of the church. I hope to see there.

Ruth Class (A Ladies Class)

Teacher: Betty Kirk

I was saved at the age of nine and have taught adult lady classes for over forty years. The Ruth Class is such a blessing to me and everyone is so special. Each Sunday these ladies support one another as we study. I know that God has placed me with this special group of ladies to teach the principles and precepts of the Bible. I enjoy each time I get to fellowship with them. On behalf of our class, I would like to extend an invitation to our ladies to join us in Sunday School. We are located in the back section of the educational building on the left-hand side. Hope to see you there!

Meet Our Childern and Student Teachers...

Tiny Tots Class (2’s & 3’s)

Preschool Teacher Rachelle Lea

Sunshine Class (4’s & 5’s)

Preschool Teacher: Wanda Callahan

Primary Class (Ages K-2nd Grade)

Teacher: Karen Payne

The Primary Class is located on the second floor of the Sunday School building. At the beginning of each school year, the students select a theme and we decorate our classroom based on the theme. We have an interactive classroom and all students participate in many projects. My goal as the teacher is to teach basic Biblical principals to the children:

A) Each child is a gift from God and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14)

B) Sin is what separates us from God (Romans 3:23; 5:12)

C) Trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior is the only way to receive salvation (John 14:6)

Friendship Class (Ages 3rd-5th Grade)

Teacher: Shelia Caheely

I have been a member at Parkway for over 30 years, but it wasn’t until February 2001, that I told the Lord I just wasn’t sure if I was saved, and I wanted to be. One night in prayer God’s grace broke through and gave me the peace and assurance that I needed. I have taught for more than 25 years, all different age groups of children. My favorite lessons subject is Easter. I know that the injustice, torment, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ was for our salvation. My passion is to teach our children the wonderful story of Christ and His love for us. Your child will have a wonderful time in the Friendship class meeting new friends and discovering the truth of what a friend we have in Jesus.

Middle School Class (6th-8th Grade)

Teacher: Eddie Partin

The Lord saved me when I was seven years old at the Dry Valley Baptist church. I have been teaching the middle school class here at Parkway for over seven years. Each youth that has passed through our class has been a blessing. Our goal is to prepare each middle school student to help prepare them for the challenges they face daily. Your youth will enjoy the atmosphere of the class each time they enter. They will learn biblical truths for today's youth and make new friends that will last a lifetime. Our class is located on the top floor of the back section of the educational building. On behalf of our class, I would like to invite your youth to fellowship with us each Sunday for Sunday School.

High School (9th-12th Grade)

Teacher: Steve Bradley

The Lord has allowed me to teach the High School Sunday School class for 15 years.  My goal is to equip our teens with Biblical principles that will help them as they grow in maturity through a very important time of their life. I have also worked with our youth group for over 20 years and serve as a deacon in our church.  Working with the youth group over the years has allowed me to stay in tune with the issues and problems our teens face.
